Title: Hawke (Cold Fury, Book #5) Author: Sawyer Bennett Release Date: March 15, 2016
The New York Times bestselling hockey series featuring the Carolina Cold Fury continues as the team’s most notorious party animal gets blindsided by the one that got away. Off the ice, elite defenseman Hawke Therrien enjoys his fair share of booze and good times. And why shouldn’t he? He’s worked his way up from the minor leagues and made himself a star. The only thing Hawke misses from that life is the pierced, tattooed free spirit who broke his heart without so much as an explanation. She’s almost unrecognizable when she walks back into his life seven years later—except for the look in her eyes that feels like a punch to the gut. Vale Campbell isn’t the same girl she was at twenty. As crazy as she was about Hawke, her reckless behavior and out-of-control drinking were starting to scare her. She had to clean up her act, and that would never happen with Hawke around. Cutting him loose was the hardest thing Vale ever had to do—until now. Because she’s still crazy about Hawke. And if he could ever learn to forgive her, they just might have a future together.

It’s really no secret that I love Sawyer Bennett. Total Fan girl here. It is also no secret that I love Hockey….and more importantly, hot hockey players. So the fact that I had not read any hockey books until I found the Carolina Cold Fury books on Amazon is just crazy. But then I read Alex, and Garrett, and Zach….then Ryker. And I loved these books. I loved the first 3 more than I did Ryker, but that does not discount the awesomeness that the book was.
Then…..then, I met Hawke #sigh. And I mean to tell you, hands down, right now, this book right here? This book is my all time favorite of this series.
Because I received an ARC of this book, and it has not released yet, I am not going to spoil anything for you. But I will tell you this, just like the blurb states….this book is about Hawke and Vale, who were together for 4 years when they were younger. Then something happens, and she ends it. You don’t know why, although, I had a feeling all along that it was what it was that caused it. Hawke leaves and continues his hockey career and Vale grows up, goes to college, becomes an athletic trainer. 7 years later, they are reunited.
Of course they have changed, but the feelings are still there. Whether it is hate, love, lust, anger….they still feel.
The chemistry between these two is off the charts. I was very happy that there was not a ton of angst and not a long time between the time Vale acknowledged her feelings that Hawke realized his. But this book did get me teary eyed at some parts, because my heart broke for these two. But, in the end….the 7 years apart was what they needed to get to where they were.
This book is totally worth your time. OneClick this one, preorder, read this book people!!!
