“We were the nightmares of nightmares…”
On the surface, Ricki Conklin is just an average bloke, a brilliant tattooist with his own shop.
Below the surface, he’s a vigilante revenge-seeker, atoning for a past he fears will never set him free.
Jaime is his everything, his foul-mouthed Dollface.
Covered in ink from collarbone to feet, she’s a wild child after his heart.
Set adrift, losing faith in herself and humanity, she’s broken down not by abuse, but by neglect. For years, she exists only so she can finally come home.
This is their story.
I feel like this review is a disservice to the author, and for that I apologize. But, let me explain …..
This book is a standalone, however, I felt like I was left out in the dark because I stupidly thought I could dive in without reading book one. I was wrong. And that held me back from enjoying this book, and I hate that so much. I felt lost, and because of that, I could not finish this book. It was not due to the book, the writing style, the story, or anything related to that…I literally just struggled and at about 10-15% in I had to stop. I need to read Ten Thousand Words before I can fully appreciate this story. Because deep down I know that this series is going to be great. And so, with that being said, for me, I just liked this book right now. Yes, I am leaving a 5star rating because I am more that confident that I will love these books and I plan on, during some serious down time, going back and reading Ten Thousand Words and then beginning this book again.
