When you’ve lived your life as a criminal…
When you’ve done unspeakable things …
When your soul has become dark and stained…
The path to redemption begins where you least expect it.
Kyle Sommerville is in hiding and doesn’t want to be found by anyone. Certainly not by his quirky, free-spirited neighbor who’s managed to push her way past the walls he’s built around him. But Jane Cresson’s indomitable will and insatiable curiosity about her reclusive neighbor makes it impossible for Kyle to stay immersed in his dark world.
Little by little, she claws through his shell.
Day by day, she gets him to smile a little more.
Night by night, they both find pleasure they never knew existed.
When Kyle’s terrible past is exposed, Jane begins to think she’s in over her head. Can her love for this broken man finally clear his path to redemption, or will Kyle’s darkness extinguish every bit of hope she’s put into him?
Well color me surprised that this was THE Kyle. Kyle from Bridger’s book. Kyle who broke cover to save a girl from the dangerous MC. Kyle who has been “dead” while waiting on a trial to come to fruition.
So, Kyle…..he was DEEP undercover for years. And he had to do things he’s was not happy about however, these thing’s were necessary to be a believable MC member. Unfortunately, some of these things have ingrained themselves in his head and he is unaware how to NOT be the rough guy.
Until he meet’s Jane. His cute, quirky neighbor who quotes movie lines and is persistent as hell when it comes to being able to spend time with him. He want’s to resist her, and he tries…but she makes her way under his skin and these two, in almost a cute way, develop a friendship/relationship.
This relationship was a perfect mix of sweet and hot, all packaged up in another awesome read by Sawyer Bennett. I was always curious about Kyle, and I am glad that we got his story.
And….in honor of Jane’s quirky movie quoting, here are a few I think fit this little love story…..
“You make me want to be a better man.” As Good as It Gets, 1997
“Me? I’m scared of everything. I’m scared of what I saw, I’m scared of what I did, of who I am, and most of all I’m scared of walking out of this room and never feeling the rest of my whole life the way I feel when I’m with you.” Dirty Dancing , 1987
“You said you couldn’t be with someone who didn’t believe in you. Well I believed in you. I just didn’t believe in me. I love you.” Pretty in Pink, 1986
